The Performance Manager will be part of the Business Performance department in FLSmidth's O&M business unit.
In FLSmidth, our vision is to become the leading solution provider in the cement and minerals industries worldwide. In O&M, we support this vision by providing technical management, operation, and maintenance services to our customers in the cement industry. We initiated our O&M activities in 2008, and we have today several ongoing contracts in different parts of the world.
The O&M business is one our company's levers for growth. As such, our goal is to maintain double-digit revenue growth while at the same time we make the transformation from an entrepreneurial organisation into a well-structured business.
For this reason, the Business Performance department has been created within O&M. In the Business Performance department, we support our existing O&M Operations and Sales efforts via business development, performance management, and technical activities. W e are also responsible for the execution of our Online Support Centre activities; which are key to achieve successful results in our business and key to our vision as the preferred Productivity provider in the cement and mining industries.
The Performance Manager will be responsible to implement a world-class performance management and continuous improvement framework. This includes monitoring our day-to-day operations; tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for all aspects of the operation; validate Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), develop and implement action plans to improve operational results in close coordination with our plant management teams; benchmark our operations internally and versus leaders in the industry.
The Performance Manager is expected to have sound experience in key aspects of operations management such as: budgeting and follow-up of operating costs, inventory management, field and desk audits execution, project planning and supervision (annual shutdowns), capital investment planning including cost-benefit analyses, capacity de-bottlenecking, industrial safety, etc. He or she should be a certified asset management practitioner as per an international standard (e.g. ISO, Reliability Centred Maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance, etc.).
The Performance Manager will play a key role in our ongoing efforts to systematize best practices. As such he or she who accepts the challenge should be comfortable to engage with heterogeneous stakeholders and become a change agent towards the continuous improvement of our organisation.
This position entails 90-120 travel days per year.
The ideal candidate:
1. Holds a master's degree in management engineering or similar
2. Has at least 10 years of relevant experience and international exposure in cement operations management from an industry leader at plant and corporate level
3. Is proficient with Excel, Project and the rest of Office suite
4. Has excellent communication skills
5. Is organised, meticulous, and can work under pressure
The following skills are considered merits:
Operations research and linear programming skills
Investment analysis (cost-benefit, discounted cash flows, NPV, and IRR)
