Do you want to contribute to securing the Intellectual Property Rights of one of Denmark's most renowned companies and a world market leader within its industries? If so, you now have the opportunity to become a Patent Attorney in the Global IPR Management department. You will join a team of dedicated colleagues located around the globe, who manage FLSmidth’s entire patent portfolio and assist in managing and securing other intellectual property rights.
Anticipate a highly independent job where you will surely unfold your decision-making capacity and cooperate with colleagues across the entire organisation. You will be based at our headquarters in Valby, Denmark and can expect between 10-20 travel days annually.
Ensure the protection of inventions & assess value of IPR Your objective is to secure protection of the right inventions and contribute to ensuring that our IPR add value to the organization. You will cooperate with our colleagues in Research & Development and Global Product Line Management in order to identify the inventions on which further resources are to be used, and assess appropriate coverage of registered rights.
· vet inventions
· draft and prosecute patent applications – both directly before the DKPTO and the EPO and through local agents;
· chair technical meetings with inventors and technical reviewers on the patentability and potential of new inventions; investigate and determine inventorship, patentability, potential statutory bars and unauthorised disclosures;
· spar with stakeholders on appropriate protection and potential value of inventions and patents, and ensure applications and registrations adhere to internal strategies, and;
· monitor and advise on competitors’ IPR activities.
· train employees in IPR issues
· manage disputes relating to infringement of IPR
· advise on non-disclosure agreements, license agreements and other matters relating to IPR.
Strong patent drafting skills and insight into Patent & Trademark Office procedures Your background is an engineering degree combined with experience from a similar position, where you have acquired vast insight into Patent & Trademark Office procedures and strong patent drafting skills. It is a definite plus, if you are a European Patent Attorney or in the process of becoming one. Irrespective of your background, you have a trained eye for quality and are highly capable of capturing the essences of inventions and assessing their potential and viability. As you will be a key sparring partner to colleagues in Research and Development and Global Product Line Management, you must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to stand firm on your convictions. Last, but not least, you thrive working both independently and as part of a team, and you are known as a meticulous and organised person who always follows through on your tasks. Fluency in English is an absolute requirement.
